Southbridge: Vehicle Vandalism

11/20/2024
Good Afternoon,
We are getting reports of vehicles being broken in to throughout Southbridge, mainly on the public roads with one also being within the townhomes. This seems to be an issue during the winter months. If you have cameras at your house please make sure they are working and be willing to turn over the footage to the police. The police have told me that it is rare that anyone turns over the footage which means the investigation goes no where. For those parking on the public roads please make sure you are not keeping anything in your vehicle that could attract anyone. According to the police a lot of vehicle owners keep valuables or items that entice those that are out looking. Please report any vandalism to the police at 703-792-6500 and make a report so it is on file. Several owners have asked, 'where is the patrol service'. The patrol is on sight 2pm until 7am nightly but has to cover 53 streets so it is rare that they will ever be around when this happening. The patrol service is here as a courtesy patrol and does not provide any security and can not engage with anyone on a public road. The best thing everyone can do is to watch out for your neighbors and always be aware of unwanted activity and call the police immediately.
