YARD WASTE CHANGES

9/10/2021
Effective October 1st, Prince William County will mandate changes to the collection of Yard Waste. In order to get the word out we will send out multiple emails so the changes are clear. Yard waste pickup will be on Mondays separate from the household trash truck.

Yard Waste is defined as LEAVES, PLANTS, FLOWERS, GRASS CLIPPINGS, WOOD CHIPS, SHRUB AND TREE TRIMMINGS, AND YARD TRIMMINGS. LIVE CHRISTMAS TREES WILL BE TAKEN THE FIRST TWO MONDAYS IN JANUARY.

BRANCHES CANNOT EXCEED 6 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND 4 FEET IN LENGTH AND MUST BE BUNDLED TOGETHER. NO ROOT BALLS OR STUMPS.

Disposal must be in compostable yard waste bags that can be purchased at most hardware stores and Walmart should be selling them as well. If you do not want to use the bags you can get a container and mark it as yard waste and use that. Plastic bags containing yard waste will not be picked up. Please watch for more information and flyers over the next few weeks.
