Good Afternoon:
I have been in contact with the construction company developing the parkway and wanted to keep you informed as there have been numerous questions on this subject.
The loop at 234 and Rt 1 is planned to open at the end of March as long as VDOT gives final approval. Prior to its opening the new traffic lights should go in flashing mod to alert traffic of the new light pattern. If you are coming down 234 you will cross over, (no left turn) and loop back around to go north to Wayside Drive or to continue north. Coming north from the Triangle area you will not be able to make a left to go up 234, you will pass 234 and make a right at the loop to come back around and up 234. This is all very strange and is sure to be confusing. Work on the parkway itself is in its 2nd phase and that is clearing the woods to construct the road and then the bridge over Wayside going behind Myrtlewood will be constructed and that is about 1 year out. As more updates come in, I will let you know. As more construction is taking place I plan to monitor the areas for safety issues to make sure they have posted the proper signage.
